Damages, repairs, damages...

Well the Urban Fairy Door at the Selo-Shevel Gallery was repaired after a l-o-n-g winter.

THEN...new tickets appeared at the Ark! Spring Peepers, I think!

BUT the very next day the tickets are jammed and 42 are left on the sidewalk.

CRAZY TIMES
As always plenty of things have been happening.
The urban fairy door was trashed. Attributed to "stupid human tricks"™.

I finally got to see behind the fairy door at Hathaway's Hideaway on Ashley.  Pretty fancy!

I have received reports of fairy doors in Jackson, Michigan.

"Who's Behind the Fairy Doors?" was #12 on the best sellers list for Nicola's Books in 2007. Not bad for only being available for 3/4 of the year. Was just behind "The Golden Compass" (and that has a major motion picture).

Uh Oh!
Circumstantial evidence certainly...but...

The Goblins may be moving in:
.
Some unique aspects of this "fairy door":

• It is quite a bit taller than the others found in Ann Arbor. ~11 in. vs ~7 in.
• The location is somewhat less "seemly". (There is quite a bit of pigeon poo there)
• Because of the proximity to the fairy Ticket window at The Ark and the mistreatment of the tickets... I am suspicious of the intentions and habits of the occupants of this door. Circumstantial, I know, but I will be watching.

Porch Pumpkin Fairies return!
It's nearly Halloween & They're back on the porch!
I brought home a pretty big and VERY heavy pumpkin for carving. Before I could whittle a face in it, there was a fairy cottage with a working chimney-stem and shuttered window-ears! Somewhat more elaborate than last year.

Back from the world of Faeries.
Whew! We made it back from the FaerieCon in Philadelphia.
Pretty crazy. We met some of the Big shots of the Faery World... writers and illustrators.
Brian & Wendy Froud, Ari Berk, Michael Hague, Charles Vess, Holly Black...

It'll take me a bit to regroup and put down the details.

The  Autumn edition of Faerie Magazine came out.It includes a 3 page article about the urban fairies and fairy doors in Ann Arbor.

Also the November issue of a British magazine, The Doll's House Magazine, is out with a 2 page spread on the urban fairies and fairy doors.

Happier News
A while back I received an e-mail inquiry about the possibilities of urban fairies at the Google building in Ann Arbor. Today when I went to investigate... I did indeed find a fairy door to photograph.

Crazy times!
I've been really busy! Too much on non fairy focus projects. I hope to get back to it soon! Kathleen is polishing her chapter book with an editor. Her picture book text has been refined and I am working on revising and fleshing out the illustrations in accordance to those changes. THEN... we will ship off the dummies to publishers.

We (Kathleen & I) are going to attend the FaerieCon in October in Philadelphia. That should be fun, with many "big shots" of the faerie world there.

Funny, On Tuesday, August 7, while "Up North" I received a call from Sweetwaters Café that people were there for a book signing. Apparently it was in the Ann Arbor Observer that was a scheduled event. ummm... not so much. If I had been in town, I would have hopped over there. Sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused.

Not just a "best" seller, but #1!
Whoo hooo!
"Who's Behind the Fairy Doors?" moved up from #5 (June) to #1 (July) bestsellers list at Nicola's Books.

Luckily in the NON-fiction, after all, I can't beat Harry.

Fireflies as Arsonists
At this time of year the fireflies are out in numbers. GENERALLY the fireflies are quite benign... However there may be an arsonist or two in the bunch.

They have torched the fairy door at the top of Jefferson Market. Luckily it is a brick building and no other damage incurred. A police report has been filed with the Ann Arbor Police Department.
